Would IVY or Counterpoint work with the PCM-1791/PCM-1796 in the Denon DVD-2910/DVD-3910? Considering a mod that would give it balanced output and better overall sound.

Oops sorry I missed this. :)

It should work just fine. just set up the IVY as if for Opus, voltage input.

Should have been more specific.

IVY_III should work with those chips.

1791 in voltage input mode, and 1796 in current. You will want to adjust the gain a bit, but that's not hard.

I would not user counterpoint there.
