I have 2 Opus boards running USB>I2S. One module is fine. The other has undistorted but low volume on one channel, very distorted "normal" volume on the other. Only tested each in stereo mode so far.
I found VMIDL pin is shorted to ground. I removed C10 and C12 thinking they might be bad, but that was not it. Is the dac chip dead?

Seems to be some confusion with my post? I mention using a TP usb>I2S to feed the opus modules because that is what I am using. In case it has any bearing on my problem.

I mention I have 2 Opus boards with one sounding normal to show that my wiring is correct and this is not the issue.

The issue is distorted output on 1 Opus board. There is a short to ground on the VMIDL pin on the board that is distorted . VMIDL/VMIDR pins on the properly working (non distorted) module read 2.45V. My shorted pin reads a few mV.

My question, does the Wolfson WM8741 chip need to be replaced.

Sorry for the late reply, yes my guess is if VMIDL is showing is a short to ground that either the chip is bad, or there is perhaps a solder bridge some place?

But its difficult to know for sure.

If this was a pre-built module, you can send it top me and I will repair/replace it for you. Send me email or a PM.
