Streaming audio using an ethernet port on Buffalo II DAC

Is it possible to stream audio via LAN (ethernet) directly to Buffalo DAC? Is there a module to convert the audio stream from the ethernet port into i.e. i2s or s/pdif? (keeping the highest quality possible)  I've been browsing the internet for hours without any luck.  Thanks!

I've seen several companies offering audio streaming over ethernet, however it seems to require a transmitter and receiver (please, correct me if I'm wrong). What I'd like to build is a DAC wit an ethernet port that doesn't require a transmitter at the other end. A bit like the Linn DS. Any bright ideas?

I agree, been using squeezebox's spdif into mux/buff32 and it work great limited to redbook though

I think the only way to go is a build-in computer to convert FLAC and other files. The idea was to do the conversion on my computer and send the raw signal via network. Also looked into using a soundcard with HDMI output (ASUS) on my computer and a RAKK I2S Interface Adapter on the DAC. However, you still don't get the highest possible resolution. Any bright ideas?

Just thought of something else... Is it possible to get a i2s signal from a Apple Airport Express?

This will not work. The HDMI output on your soundcard is not outputting I2S; it is outputting encrypted HDMI. The PS Audio and RAKK "interface" circuits are just balanced line drivers using an HDMI cable, not the HDMI standard.
