I'd like to squeeze everything into a 1U case, so everything needs to be under about 1.57 inches. Last time I used a few small nuts as standoffs. Does anyone have recommendations for better low profile standoffs as those were kind of a pain to work with. If you have an aluminum case, you can mount the transistors to the chassis floor and skip the heatsinks.

Also, if you do want some shorter standoffs... 1/4" long hex standoffs (male-female): Jameco.com1/4" long hex standoffs (female-female): Jameco.comUsing such short standoffs, you have to be careful about your screw lengths. M-F with nuts might make it easier.

I have used as short as 5mm female threaded standoffs. The way I mount it, is to put a long screw right up through the case, tighten it with the standoff, and through the board mounting holes. I use small rubber grommets to get a little decoupling between PCB and chassis. I only tighten enough to slightly depress the grommets
