I have a Terralink-X that works fine with my TDA1545 based dac but not with Buff24 via USB in, SPDIF out. I get a back round static type of noise when music is playing, quiet when music is paused. A Google of this showed others with the same problem but not heard a fix for this. Searched these pages also with no success. Anybody with any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hello !
Have the same problem ! but not fixed yet ! I think about the spdif input : 75 Ohms resistor is connected series, but why ? I've seen a corrective schematic with 75R connected //
Any advice ? R.C.

Did you try using the highest DPLL bandwidth setting?

Russ thanks for the reply. I did try the DPLL settings, and just about everything on the Buff, and PC software settings, that I can think of. Ciu, you have tried these also?

yes, I've tested DPLL settings ... What seems "unbelievable" on my system : Buffalo DAC works with : TPA PCM2707, PCM2906 (transfo out), Musiland 01 USD (transfo out) Cambridge DAC (4xtda1541) : all above + Teralink-X
I tried other voltage divider on Teralink, on primary , to adjust the output level and impedance, because I think about a mismatch impedance or level between Buffalo and Teralink One day, I will investigate deeper with a scope..

Hello Russ ! I've found two schematics, same Rev.02, but R13 (75 Ohms Spdif input ), has two different positions, one is serial in the input path, the other is from input to Ground .. All of the buffalo that went into production always only had 75R to GND into the comparator. Not in series.

Ah yes that is on of my very first cuts at a schematic which I ran by Dustin. It was long before production. The SPDIF portion of that schematic was the same as what was on the original ESS demo board. If you you follow down that thread a bit you will see that both ESS and I corrected that mistake.
On all production buffalo that resistor is 75 to GND not in series with the input.
