We will have in testing before Christmas. It probably won't be ready for prime time before January though. We will try.
We should be able to post some details soon. It will be the best Buffalo yet, and I am confident it remain at the "head of the pack."

What is the status of a DAC module without I/V stage? I recall reading some time a go that you were working on it.

That is the Buffalo we are talking about. It will no longer have a directly integrated I/V stage. It will be more like the original Buffalo in that regard.

Do I understand it correctly Brian, that the new "redesigned" Buffalo won't include the I/V stage as the current Buffalo32s does? This is a small let-down IMHO. I was looking for an easy replacement without the need to redesign my case (and invest other funds into the I/V stage!). I put a lot of though into the enclosure which I built myself with smallest form factor in mind. I planned to build more of these for my friends. Am I right that the configuration provided by Buffalo32s v1.1 will no longer be available in the future? I know it's difficult to please everyone, but haven't Russ once said, that to maximize the audio performance the I/V stage must be integrated on the board with signal paths as short as possible? Now if the new combo is performing really better (hard to imagine) I will redesign the case and be done with it. But I would like to see the Buffalo project stabilize a bit and not changing every few months. That's it for my whining - keep up the good work guys! Hi, The new board (Buffalo II) and the new I/V stage boards have virtually the same trace/wire length from the DAC to the input of I/V stage as the BUF32S had if mounted as designed. There is no compromise there. The size is slightly larger. But only by about an inch. :)
We can only afford so much outlay for parts and assembly so we had to pick a strategy for a module that was as DIY friendly as possible while still not compromising any of the core requirements for success.
The new layout is actually superior to the BUF32S at least in regard to EMI and RF concerns. It is the product of months of research and development.
