Today while rewiring my Buf, I got careless and made a VERY stupid mistake. I accidentally wired V- of the PS to V+ on Buf, and V+ to V- and powered on the DAC. After I realized and corrected the mistake, I turned it back on and all I can hear is periodic popping. Is the DAC permanently damaged? Can I send it back for repair, or is it beyond repair and I need to get a new one? Thank you in advance! Edit: I don't have a multimeter with me, so I can't check. But judging from the symptoms, is it (remotely) possible that it's the PS that died but not the DAC? Edited by user Thursday, November 5, 2009 7:39:17 AM(UTC)

Which voltage input did this happen on, VD or VA? If it was VA, there may be a chance the Sabre is okay. If this was on VD, the DAC or the regulators could be damaged. Chances are the TPA power supplies can handle a short term short. You WILL need a multimeter to isolate the problem between the power supply and the various rails on the board. An inexpensive meter will do, or see if you can borrow one from a friend. Without a volt meter its just guess work as to what's damaged.
