Hi Russ / Brian,
I have tried on a couple of ocassions to connect my volumite to by Buffalo 32S (version1) but can't get it to work. The first time i tried i was using the 5 v powersupply and had the regulator mounted on the volumite but couldnt get it to work - the second time i removed the regulator and fitted the link and powered directly from the 3.3v supply provided on the Buffalo, i double checked the cabling to make sure the SDA/SCL were not reversed and all OK, also double checked all joints on the board and polarity of caps and again all ok.. also i removed the firmware chip from the Buffalo and fitted the firmware sent with the Volumite - i presume the dot on the pcb corresponds to the dot on the chip? i tried the chip from the Buffalo in the volumite and again no go (chip from buffalo has felt pen marking on top and chip provided with volumite has no markings)could it be a problem with the firmware chip?
other than that the DAC is superb and i have been using it happily with my pre amp for months, just wanted to try bypassing the pre and use the volumite
Thanks,
Luke

Just to be clear... when you removed the firmware from the Buffalo, you used the Volumite firmware on the Volumite, not on the Buffalo, correct?

Hi Brian,
Yes thats correct - volumite firmware chip on volumite board; buffalo firmware chip removed from buffalo board.
Soon i will be building a Buffalo 32 for a friend and will try his volumite firmware chip on my setup to see if that resolves it but any other suggestions welcomed.
Thanks,
Luke

Hi Luke,
Have you got the new chip and tried it out? I have the same issue as yours. Would you mind sharing the result/solution? Thanks.

Hi Thomas,
I havent had a chance to try it yet as my friend has the kit, when he brings it to me to build for him i will try the firmware in my setup and let you know either way. Could be a week or so.

Hi Luke,
Any news? Sorry to push you. I am really eager on this as I don't have an amplifier. Without volumite working, it is too aloud.
Thanks in advance, Thomas

Hi Luke,
Any news on the issue?
Hi Russ / Brian,
I am suspecting the Chip was not programmed as there is no label on its top. Would you mind sending a programmed chip to me?
Thanks in advance?
Thomas

Did these issues with the Volumite ever get resolved?
I am having the same issue - B32 (v1.1) working fine but Volumite not attenuating. Running direct to power amp so this is a problem.
Any ideas?
-Eric

If you are having trouble with your Volumite, please email me. If you are concerned that the firmware is non-functional, I will send you a new one. Edited by user Thursday, December 3, 2009 5:50:30 AM(UTC)
