Is the Buffalo DAC upgradeable with the ES9018 chip?

The reason I ask is because the Buffalo ES9008 current output pins allows for an external I/V converter This would allow me to use a tube output therefore making a tubed based dac 32 bit.Is that correct?

9008 is the 24bit version.
Both the 24 and 32 bit versions are not really conventional current output DACs; they look like a voltage source in series with a 200 Ohms resistor, and have single supply output stages, so the voltage source swings about 1.65V. To get proper IV conversion, you need an stage with a very low input impedance, either by using feedback (like IVY) or with something like a current conveyer (Counterpoint), which will hold the output pin close to 1.65V. Note that the range of output currents for the Sabre DAC is unusually large - nearly 10mA.
I don't think valve devices have enough transconductance, nor a large enough linear current range, to match the properties of this DAC in either configuration.

PD makes some very valid points.
The simple answer to your question about the ES9008 being swapped out for a ES9018 is yes it will work.
