Hi,
The amplifier I'm building will be a two chassis solution so that I can limit the AC to one chassis and power the other one with DC only. I understand that I can feed the relay driver with DC, but I would like to know the best way to implement it.
The problematic thing is that the relay driver already has a rectifier bridge and 5V voltage regulator and I assume that the regulator would like to see at least 7V in it's input. Now, to provide that 7V DC from other chassis I need to have a similar setup there with for example 7808 that I assume likes to see at least 10.5V in it's input. The next higher commonly available size for trafo is 12V. That means that I have to dissipate total 7V in two separate stages to get usable 5V.
What is a better way to implement the two chassis solution with a proper isolation?

After thinking about the above, let me re-phrase the question. What is the best way to by-pass the regulation stage in the controller?

Don't solder the regulator in, and put a jumper between in and out.
