Hi Brian/Russ, is it possible to use another volume pot on the volumite and attach it via wires to the board? The shaft length isn't long enough to go through my panels so i can't secure it via the nut to my panel. I was thinking of getting a replacement pot that would be long enough and just running short wires in to where the on board pot would have been. Would this work all ok with the standard volumite board??

Should be fine with any linear 5 or 10kR pot. Avoid logarithmic pots. Quality is not important as it is not in the audio signal path.

Ok thank you for your reply.

Can i also confirm one other thing before i power the amp up. Id like to check the order of the wires on the volumite connecting to the relay driver board.


SCL (volumite) > SCL (relay driver)
SDA (vooumite) > SDA (relay driver)
GND (volumite) > GND (relay driver)
VCC (volumite) > VDD (relay driver)

The PB3 + PB1 connections are not used?

Does that sound right? I am running the joshua tree with the balanced boards.


Also i have the switches on the relay driver board set to:

The connections looks correct. Don't recall about the jumpers.
Why don't you test the attenuator before connecting it to the DAC and amp?
Just apply a low voltage between ground and each rail (four in total) and verify that you get the expected attenuation with a DMM when operating the volumite.

Jumpers? Which are you referring to? You mean the switches on the image i attached?

Ok i'll do a bit of testing and see what i get.

For the standard firmare all the of the switches need to be low(0). Or the port expander chip address will be wrong.

Im using it as a balanced joshua tree board so it hooks up to my b22. I guess thats the standard version of firmware that i have then. So according to my picture attached above, the switches should all be set towards the bottom where it says 1,2,3?

Yes, toward the zeros on the silk screen. Your looking for a binary "0".
