Will different types of caps (electrolytic, ceramic, mylar, oil, etc) for these 1nf caps affect the sound quality ? leo wrote:Thats interesting Russ thanks Listening to Buffalo today I'm finding its the best I've heard it, things like piano just sound more realistic to my ears. I can't wait to test Buffalo32, I just hope its at least a bit better than this Somebody asked earlier in this thread about 10nf so I've tried it, sorry but IMHO 1nf is a lot better here

I would recommend MKP or MKT type film caps. 1nf C0G type ceramics would also be just fine. You want the inductance/impedance to be low.

Indeed those would be great. As would WIMA or AVX MKPs.
Cheers! Russ

Sorry to resurrect an old thread and just re-hash what has already been said, but I simply can't afford to make a mistake on my next Mouser order and pay for a second round of shipping...... I have an IVY I, v2.0 hooked up to my Buffalo and want to upgrade it. If somebody could please confirm the following, it would be *greatly* appreciated! R1-R4 are currently 187R. I should remove them and install these: https://ca.mouser.com/Se...irtualkey66-RC55LF-D-357C13-C16 are currently empty. I should populate them with these: https://ca.mouser.com/Se...ey505-MKP21000%2f400%2f5Or can anybody suggest something better from Mouser? C1-C4 are currently 10nF. I should remove them and leave empty. R5-R8 are already jumpered. No change required. Thanks people! :)

Correct. :)
You probably also know that you won't need the (Rs or jumpers) that are in series with C1-4.
Cheers! Russ

Yep, I can see that they are now out of the circuit. But considering how much I hate desoldering, so I will probably just be lazy and leave them there.
