I have received my vol. The Atmel though wasn't "branded". I have put it in, orientated with pin1 closest to the pot. I have paid attention to the SCL-SDA cross (related to the Buf24). The voltage regulator is not mountet, and I have mounted the bypass wire in it's place. R1 and R2 is not mounted. I have checked the 3.3V, ok. But, it doesn't work. I just got really tires of printing tiny stickers to put on them. It was taking longer than putting the rest of the kit together. The chip is programmed.
What version of the Buffalo24 do you have? 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2?

One of the very last, one of the "found" under your desk. Version 1.2.
I have received 2 Vol. as ordered, none of them seems to be working. Have tried swapping the Atmels, no go.

When you say "I have paid attention to the SCL-SDA cross (related to the Buf24)", do you mean you reversed them? They are labeled correctly on the 1.2 boards.

Viewed at a scope with a 10:1 probe, I can see a bitpattern on SDA when turning the pot. However, I can't see anything on SCL. And there's no regulation. How fast is SCL? Edited by user 16 years ago

If the volumite is working correctly SCL should definitely not be quiet...

There we got the problem. It ain't working correctly. SCL is active upon boot. That must be the PIC on the Buf24. Edited by user 16 years ago

Hi Russ. Not at all. It's open. The only thing I have tried is resetting the DAC (which brings it into a state it newer leaves before powercycling). I think I'll test the vol's. on my other Buf24. Perhaps it's the PIC on the Buf that causes the problem ???  Edited by user 16 years ago

Update, swapped the PIC from my Buf24 1.1 (pic version 1.0.3) to the Buf24 1.2.
No change.

Now tested on my Buf24 1.1 The vol doesn't work here either. It must be down to Atmel. My guess, Buf32 firmware in these ?? Edited by user 16 years ago
