Hey guys,
Yes I'm am a newbie for the most part, I have built a couple of Tripath kits and had good results, I was thinking about doing a system using the RevC Kit, what is the best preamp for use with the RevC? or should I just stick with a passive set-up using a Joshua Tree? I would like to also use the Darwin as well...I'm a bit confused though... with the RevC will I need the balanced kit or the single ended? forgive my newbie syndrome..lol thanks in advance

The RevC has single-ended inputs, so JT and Darwin would be single-ended as well.
Mauro recommends a passive pre with the RevC, though also use it with active pre's, like the Kookaburra.
Either way will work great.

So if I pick up the RevC kit (Stereo Pair), a Joshua Tree (S/E complete kit), and a Darwin (S/E Relay Board & parts). I should be good to go? I know I need to pick up a transformer for the RevC kit, what about the JT and Darwin? is there anything else I might need? (other than the basic terminals, wire ect.)

that shoudl be about it. the kits come with the pot and switched, and all the hardware you need. You might want to use a lower voltage trafo for the JT and Darwin. You will probably be okay with one side of the RevC trafo (24-25V, but you will be running near the input voltage limit of the voltage regulator on the Joshua Tree (LM7805, max 34V). depends on the Transformer you get and your mains voltage (fluctuation and such). I don't mind having to run seperate transformers for the amp and the passive pre, what would you suggest for the JT and Darwin? do you have any favorites for the RevC? maybe with a link for the noob... lol Thanks for the help Brian!!

Heatsink(s). You will need those as well.
Well, we sell one for the JT/Darwin, but any trafo 9-15V should be fine.
For the RevC, check the 25V+25V Avel transformers at Parts Express (www.partsexpress.com).

You will actually tap power for the Darwin (5VDC) of the JT, so, same trafo. The 250VA will work okay of you have an easy load (8-ohm, >95dB speakers) and don't listen at higher volumes (or if you are going to use one per channel). Generally, I would recommend the 330VA or higher for a stereo pair.

what size heat sinks are reccomended? man I'm trying to gather the rest of the parts needed, damn this is going to be a pricey project..lol
Sorry to be a pain:) do you have any good online sources for RCA jacks, power cords, binding post, heat sinks, ect?
