I'm planning on using the otto for my balanced B22 which will also use the TP joshua tree attenuator. Any reason I couldn't just pull the output from the transformer of the attenuator to power the otto as well?

You need 5V DC for the OTTO. You could get this from the JT's relay driver board, using the unused JT 1.0 header. See the attached pic.

Thanks Brian. Do you happen to have the dimensions of the otto and volumite boards handy (I got the JT relay and driver dimensions from the website already)? I'm trying to do my layout.

Brian is the relay board capable of powering two switch boards (one otto and a custom switch board) that both require 5v and use 12v relays? Is the current supply strong enough to handle this?

Please let me know.

The power supply on the I2C Relay Module is basically an LM7805, so can provide up to 1A. Each JT relay board draws a maximum of 147mA (7 relays * 21mA). Therefore, it can easily power 2 relay boards and an OTTO.

You will need to find another power source for the 12V relays. You could rig up something on protoboard: bridge, LM7812 and cap.

Thanks for your reply Brian.

So the method you are suggesting uses the jt1 header as the 5v output. Is this the best way to power the otto? Will this work if im using the 12v relays on the otto?

I could build a small power supply, if i had a clue on what i was doing. I can put a kit together by someone else but building my own, i haven't got a clue. :0)

no, it will only provide 5V, so will not trigger a 12V relay. Why do you need to use a 12V relay on the OTTO?

Hi Brian, sorry fopr the late response. I think i have the issue sorted now. It was suggested by a friend that i use my e24 switch baord to power the otto by bypassing some of the parts on the otto straight to the relay. I haven't tried it yet, but hopefully this will work.

Now I'm thinking about not using the JT and using the volumite from within my Buffalo to control volume. Anyone have any clever ideas on how to get power to the Otto simply? Batteries?
