Hello - I've been eagerly awaiting the general availability of this kit. Can you share some details when it may be available and what the cost will be? TIA.

We have the prototype boards (10). I have 90% of the parts (waiting ona shipment of Wima caps from Germany). I am currently building 10 kits for the prototypes. Russ and I will build a couple first to be sure they function. After that, there will be a few (about 7) available for beta testers to try out.

We will then order production boards with any corrections needed, and order any part changes.

The outstanding parts shoudl be here any day (it's difficult to track international DHL). I am guessing we will have the first prototypes built early next week. You will all know about it when we do ;).

How do you get to be a beta tester? We'll post something about that soon.

Cost is not finalized, but should be about $100, which for a balanced DAC seems to be pretty reasonable.

So, now we have all the parts, except the right receivers in the right package (I got TSSOP accidently the first time). Anyway, new ones will be here tomorrow. I just successfully mounted a DAC chip (MSOP). Wow, they make the SOIC receiver chip look gigantic. The new hotair station with MSOP tip makes it a lot easier, but still tricky. I'll try and post some pics tomorrow.

[EDIT] so you can see here the size difference... the soic receiver pads look like MDIP next to the MSOP DAC.

Here's a close up of the DAC. Still needs a cleanup with a brush, but the soldering seems to go well with the hot air and proper tip.

Nicely done. I doubt my SMD soldering skills or equipment are up for that type of work. Those are going to come shipped in place, right? Anxious

Brian, please check your PM.

Cheers, mac.

Well, the Betas have gone out, and we should be getting some feedback soon.

There have been a few changes made to the layout since we built the first two. We will be posting some potential changes in the next few days.
