My B-2 with Waveio XMOS USB frontend randomly loses lock. This started happening only recently, after many years of reliable service.
Connections are as follows:
Mac Mini -> Wavio XMOS USB board (Luckit device in OSX) -> SPDIF -> B-2 D.
Will be listening to music when, apparently randomly (in the middle of a track), lock LED goes out & sound stops.
Sometimes OSX reports Luckit USB device is still recognised, othertimes it's not.
Power-cycle of DAC often brings music back (for a random period of time).
I've checked supply voltages & seating of Tridents (all LEDs/voltages look good).
Even wired up Waveio to use i2s rather than SPDIF, no change to symptoms.
Checked for overheating, nothing apparent.
Please advise what to test/measure to track down this problem. Very frustrating.
Looking to replace in long term with new 8-channel DAC, but that's another story.
BTW, old B32 still workin fine.
I tri-amp speakers using 3 DACs, B-2 was one of those.
Testing has used B-2 on its own from iPad as headphone amp to eliminate multi-DAC environment from equation, same problem.

Losing recognition of the USB device in OSX suggests your problem originates either in the Mac or in the Waveio. Assuming the WaveIO is powered internally, I would confirm power is reliable. Then confirm USB connection - perhaps other cables, other computer, etc.?

Fingers crossed, looks like it was the WaveIO USB board (both i2s & spdif outputs). Was already running internal power from TP shunt regulated power supply. Voltages all checked out.
Could be my 10yo Mac Mini, but all USBs behave the same, & only on the WaveIO. Other USB dac interfaces work fine.
Running USB->spdif into the B2 using a borrowed Audiophilleo, & it's perfect. Maybe the reclocking did it, who knows.
Even with nothing else connected, WaveIO would drop lock rendomly.
Time to move on:
Still want a new 8 channel B4, but that's another story.
Stay safe & happy, people.
