Assembled a JT attenuator. There is 5v going to the volumite from the relay driver, but doesn't appear to be any change in voltage when measuring DC at SCL or SDA. I have two volumites that I purchased about the same time and both are having the same symptoms. I also tried changing out the relay driver, but still nothing.

You will not be able to measure anything useful on the SDA and SDL lines with a voltmeter. These are data lines, and you would need a scope.

Can you post a picture of your setup? Mainly the Volumite, Relay Driver and connections to the relay board.

Driver.jpg (322kb) downloaded 6 time(s). Relay Board.tiff (306kb) downloaded 9 time(s).

Attached are the pictures. The relay board is in another chassis. I checked continuity between the ribbon cable and seems to be right.

A few things:

  • Make sure you have J1 installed on the relay board.

  • On the Volumite, you either need the voltage regulator installed, or a jumper between pins 1 and 3, otherwise the power is not reaching the firmware chip. I recommend installing the voltage regulator.

  • Also, I can't tell from the pictures, but you should have the 3.32K pull-up resistors installed on the Volumite.
