After finding Russ's Hermes BBB design on Github I decided to have another go at re-purposing it to isolate and re-clock a MiniDSP Multichannel USB Streamer - and it works! (simple when you know how :-) )

Nice that you got it to work! I've been considering it, but the documentation is not so clear on the pinouts and such.
How does it sound? Any better?

Actually, the documentation is very clear - if you download the circuit diagram and PCB layout from https://github.com/twistedpearaudio/Hermes-BBB (you need to download diptrace too) The important pins (all on the BBB header P9) are: 1,2: GND 3,4: VDD_3V3 (I used a 3.3V Trident V3 shunt reg to power the board) 14: Enable (pull high) 24: MCLK_SEL (pull high to select Cronus clock nearest edge of board, low to select the other clock) 25: MCLK OUT 31: BCLK 29: LRCLK 30: D0 41: D1 42: D2 27: D3 and yes, it did seem to improve the sound
