What would be the bare minimum VA rating of each transformer powering the Buffalo32 analog/digital supply plus dual mono IVYs? Would three 7VA transformers be enough?

I will publish the current demands of each cct soon. From that you will know if you have a big enough transformer for each.

Cheers!

Well, I can tell you what is about the absolute minimum you can get away with...

I got a couple of 1.6VA transformers (Amveco) from DigiKey, they are little PC board mount encapsulated toroids. A 9V and a 15V, they are dual secondary, and they JUST do the job. I don't have the part numbers now, but that would pin them down for you.

I'm seeing about 20VAC on both sides of the 15V one, driving the IVY, and the 9V is running about 10.7VAC and 12VAC for the Buffalo 6VDC and 6.5VDC. So, there's a decent amount of headroom. Its not like it's an amp... even playing loud the load only changes a fraction.

I'm not following the audiophile "use at least 2X" rule of thumb though... Shame on you Ah well..

Anyway, that's probably the lowest you can safely get away with.

Edit--- Oops... I forgot to say I'm using the original Buffalo and IVY. Have to defer to Russ and Brian on what difference in current draw there may be.
