Hi Guys,
I'm in the process of adding a Wave IO usb input to my opus, and while I'm in the modification mood I was wondering if changing out my original Ballsie (v1 I think) to an IvyIII would result in a worthwhile improvement to it's already great sound quality.

I would say it depends on if you are going to use the balanced outputs.

The IVY-III will have a small edge in dynamic and and THD at the SE out - but not much.

Hi Russ,
Well I think my decision has become a mute point, it appears that my good old ballsie gave up the ghost. Sound coming out went to white noise, at first I thought it was the amp, later I tracked it down to the ballsie card. So looks like it's the IVYIII for me.

I thought I'd report back. I installed the IVY, and also took the opportunity to neaten up the build by stacking the DACs, receiver and metronome boards together to minimize wire length. Everything is back up and running. The sound has improved, not sure if it's just from the IVY or neatening up the build. No matter it sounds great, liquid, deeper soundstage, easily bests my other dacs.
