My BUFF SE/Lagato works fine on SPDIF input. I just tried to add USB to it and I am having no luck. The USB port is recognized by the computer and JRiver but no music. When I switch to SPDIF input no problem TP1_SMx.jpg (192kb) downloaded 26 time(s). TP2_smx.jpg (203kb) downloaded 28 time(s).Edited by user Sunday, April 10, 2016 6:00:29 PM(UTC)

Is the DAC locking on the I2S signal?

I hooked up lock LED and surprisingly is on for both SPDIF and USB when I switch back and forth between them and I have signal going to DAC from my SBT or USB out from computer.

My first guess is the volume level from your computer. Windows has a few places you need to check.

I check every place in win10 that controls volume and everything is at 100% one curious thing. when powering USB locally I get the lock light LED on whether there is a signal or not.
I suppose the usb board is suspicious and will get another one

The DAC will lock as long as it sees a Bit Clock. I2S data is not needed.

then the problem could be in connections between the Buffalo and the usb adpter, maybe the u.fl connections. is there anyway to check these connections using a dvm or scope

Just confirm that there is no solder bridges (0-ohm) between the signal pin and ground with a meter for each of them.

There was a problem with one of the u. fl connectors, so I did away with them and went back to the screw terminal that came with the kit. I now get lock lite but low volume and distorted sound. It doe not matter whether I use ANSIO or WASBI drivers for XMOS usb board

I have double checked my connections and still no luck as stated earlier the SPDIF works fine but the USB dose not. Do I chuck this USB board and try another, or does any one have any ideas
