Hi,

I am trying to figure out how the volume control is supposed to work. I am not sure whether I have a defective relay board or whether the firmware/relayt board is operating normally. When I scan through the volume range with a battery connected to ground and input at one terminal and I measure the voltage between the output and ground terminal I get 0 Volt at the low range but I also get 0 Volt at the high end.

Is that the intended behavior or does this indicate a problem? I would assume that at the high end I should get the full battery voltage back. I gets almost there but then it jumps to zero.

I did some more testing today with another relay board and it shows identical behavior. I now have this with 2 controller boards and all my functional relay boards.

On high volume the sounds cuts out before establishing a pass trough. It stays at zero for a few more clicks of the relais. I am wondering what the problem could be.

- Cable not crimped correctly
- Firmware not working as expected
- Relay/controller boards defective
- ...

Russ/Brian would be great to hear from you how this is supposed work.

Ok, this appears to be a firmware bug I introduced last minute. There is an averaging algorithm that it applied to the ADC samples to ensure smooth control. Last minute I upped the number of samples in the average which is causing an overflow (mathematical, not current :)). I think I missed it because at that point I was testing with music and didn't turn it all the way up (married and all).

Anyway, I have it fixed (and tested) and will be sending out new firmware chips.

Good news if it should be fairly usable until the new chips arrive.

I just received a JT2 (ordered March 3rd). Does this have the updated firmware chip?

Just switched the new controller Brian send and the updated firmware works like a charm. And yes, my wife pretty much complained instantly when I was trying out the full range Shame on you
