Hi, here are a few questions hooking up input sources to dual mono build BIIIse.
I would like to connect 3 Spdif and one I2S (via teleporter) sources to a dual mono BIIIse build.
I have two options:
1: use the teleporter with equal length (short) cable to the I2S inputs of the two BIIIse and a 4:1 Mux/Demux to Spdif inputs on both BIIIse
2. use the teleporter I2S and the 4:1 Mux/Receiver set to I2S into OTTO II and output from OTTO II to both BIIISE with equal length cable.
Which way is preferable?
If using the 4:1 Mux/Demux:
How to connect to both BIIIse boards? There is no info into integration guide (or I did not find it). Is here a problem with the 75Ω termination if ego to both BIIse boards (and if: is there a solution)
For the BII with dual mono there was a hint in the integration guide :
SPDIF and dual mono When using SPDIF with a dual mono setup do not run parallel input wires to both DAC boards. The termination would no longer be 75Ω, as both boards have a 75Ω termination resistor on-board. Instead of sending it to two boards (going direct into SPDIF on both DACs) feed the SPDIF into one of the DACs as you normally would do with the SPDIF switch closed (ON) as usual. Then wire from GND and D1 on that DAC to GND and D1 on the second DAC and keep the SPDIF switch open (OFF) on the second DAC.
Is there a explanation how to use the 4:1 Mux/Demus with a micro controller (as there is for the Otto II)
Last question: should i use some sort of isolation (ie. Adum 1250 isolator chip) on the micro controller lines (Arduino) to the modules mux and Otto II if I power these from the Placids Hd that power the BIIIse
Sorry for that much of questions at one time.
thx
Branko

One approach would be to use a SPIDF receiver and work only with I2S.

That is the approach I would personally take.
Here is why - the ES9018 does better with high sample rate I2S signals when SPDIF detection is turned off. This way you can leave it turned off all the time.
So I would go the SPDIF receiver route and the OTTO-II.
Cheers! Russ
