Raided my fried Placid for film capacitors and tried using those as coupling capacitors. Success!
Perfect sound. No buzzing.
Now to find the appropriate capacitors.
Anyone who has experience in calculating the correct capacitor values?

Think I have a lock on a layout. Initially I had an extremely compact design but this one is more tinker-friendly:) It also has room to expand with future components eg. arduino and power relay. I have never used sketchup before, and thought it was a bit overkill at first, but it has been really useful. Its viewed at an angle so the front is on the left.  A cutaway showing the internal mounting platform and shielding wall.  And basic placeholder blocks where the components will be. Green - top left : placids Brown - bottom left : transformers Purple - top right : buffalo + legato and amanero usb Brown - bottom right: coupling capacitors  And here it is with the two mono blocks I am building simultaneously.

Having the chassis custom made turned out to be far to expensive for now. So I went with a large Galaxy box from modushop with plenty of air and ventilation. Also, there is room for a possible future dual mono build:) Bottom box for the buffalo. Slightly smaller box for the amps on top.  Have started laying things out and need to drill a few holes to fix everything in place.  Still going for the two-tier layout with transformers and power input on the bottom and all the sensitive stuff shielded at the top. Possibly a dividing shielding wall on the bottom if/when i need to place something there.  A big thank you to Gianluca at modushop for great service.

Looks great so far. I would move the mounting plate so that the top of the heat sinks on the placids make contact with the top lid for better heat dissipation?

You might be right and I will have to try different variations to see what works best. There is plenty of air and ventilation so Im not concerned about the temperature in the case. So the benefit would be mostly in making life easier for the heat sinks on the placids? Actually had a thought about using heat pipes between placids and external heat sinks like the ones on modushop's dissipante. Might revisit that idea at some point. Could be fun:)

When I modified my LCDPS with the belleson 2A regulator the heatsink got too hot to touch when there was no contact with the case. When I flipped the LCDPS so that the top of the heatsink is in contact with the case it does not get above 32-33c (does not feel hot to the touch). That is a big difference. Did you apply paste on the connecting surfaces?
I'll try it out and see if I get the same results.

I'll try it out and see if I get the same results. I did use thermal paste. It helped a lot. You should apply it to the top of the sink, then mount the top lid and press it down. Then remove the lid and remove the exess from the top of the sink before mounting it again. That would remove the exess paste in the gaps of your top lid.

The Placids should not produce so much heat that it is an issue.
If they are getting too hot for your comfort, they are designed to allow you to mount the shunt transistors directly to the case and bend the pins up to the PCB. This was you can use either the case floor or a larger, non-pc-mount heatsink.

Im shunting a steady 20mA. Can comfortably keep my finger on the sinks and Legato and Buffalo are running steady and smooth. Should I shunt a bit more?

Did some wiring and mounted the basics. Everything braided, twisted, soldered, shrink sleeved, fastened, tightened... took longer than expected:) Transformers in place. Put in an extra 9v for auxiliary units and there is place for a second 15v when time comes.  Placids, Legato and Buffalo on the second tier. Plenty of air and ventilation but if I want to do a dual mono I will have to get creative with the space.

Back plate fitted and capacitor board mounted. I wish a had the gear to make more professional looking pcb but for now I am very happy with the just fantastic performance. Xlr out on the right and two usb in on the left. One for audio and one for communicating with controller.
