Russ/Brian,
I had set up Buffalo III in 8 channel mode with USBStreamer as interface, and it was working but only with Oversampling Bypass on the Buffalo III. As it happened the USBStreamer suddenly was not recognized by computer when connected. I then went ahead and purchased USBPAL interface device and hooked it all up.
However, now when I try to play music, only violent, full volume static occurs until I quickly turn everything off. I double and triple checked all my connections, and they seem ok and the same as they were. Also when no amplifier is hooked up to the IVY IIIs, all appears to be working well (JRiver gives no errors, the USBPAL blinks as it should and shows no errors, and all the lights on the Buffalo III turn on and shows signal lock).
The IVY III's are getting 14.75 and 14.6 volts on the + and -. The Buffalo III is getting 5.25 volts.
Please provide some guidance on where to start troubleshooting. Is it possible the Buffalo III is in trouble?
The amplifier works fine with other setups/DACs
Another forum user uses the USBPAL successfully with similar setup as mine, but I can't seem to get it going.
Thanks, Doug Riedel

I don't really know anything about that source - is itt 3.3V level I2S?

Russ, Yes, it is 3.3volt I2S, ASIO compatible. Another user has it working with Buffalo III in 8 channel mode. How do I test to make sure Buffalo III is properly functioning? What should voltages be at various points?
I had my setup working with usbstreamer but only if I bypassed over sampling on the buffalo. The usbstreamer stopped being recognized by my PC so I got the new USBPAL interface, and now all is awry. Just FYI I had it working today at 44.1 sample rate but when I switched to a higher sample rate file (88.2), loud pop and clicking then full volume harsh static. Any ideas on where to start checking?
My I2S lines are short at about 2 inches. Thanks, Doug Riedel

Pictures could help us spot any issues.
Check the trident output voltages as well.

Russ, the Trident output voltages are 3.29v; 3.26v; 1.18v (input voltage is 5.25 on all three). The AVCC Module has output voltages of 3.62 and 3.62v. (is the 1.18volt output a problem?) The Placid Bi-polar has -14.75 and +14.67 Thi input voltages to the ivy IIIs are all .853v to .855v The dc output voltages from the IVY III's are all 0.000 to 0.002volts *** What should the voltages be for the outputs of the IVY IIIs? Also, what should the balanced outputs read? The IVY III measured output voltages for single ended are: [+0.7; -0.4mV] [-2.1; -2.0mV] [-0.1; -1.2mV] [-0.4; +0.2mV] For the Balanced (measured from + to -) are: [+1.1; -0.1mV] [-1.6; -1.7mV] [-0.1; -0.7mV] [+0.2; +0.6mV] (measurements were taken with just power on and no source input to the Buffalo III) Pictures attached Thanks, Doug Edited by user Saturday, October 17, 2015 8:32:31 PM(UTC)

The IVY outputs were inDC and I guess they should all be zero, but are those figures close enough?

My issue is resolved.
I'm sorry, but happy to say, it was a driver configuration error for the USBPAL. The 32bit operating system driver file was properly configured, but the 64bit(which I use) was not properly configured for I2S.
At least it forced me to neaten up some wires and quadruple check my connections.
Thanks, Doug
