I am starting a B-III + IVY3 (3 boards) 6-channel setup with volume potentiometer. Is there a simple way to activate a mute command to the B-III with a single or double pole switch that will mute all outputs? Only to silence the outputs, like for flipping a record. NOT for on/off thump protection.

I'm sure this is common request that may have been covered, but I couldn't find it, and would appreciate a pointer.

The simplest way is to have your switch connect the volume control center pin to GND on all three DAC boards.

Brian - Thanks for the response.

I was thinking of doing just that, but worried that when the volume pot is in the max (CW) position, switching the wiper pin to ground will ALSO be grounding the 3.3V terminal of the ADC. That can't be ok, is it???

OR are you talking about using a SPDT switch, to switch the PB4 terminal off the pot wiper, then to GND to mute? I then worried about what happens during the transient disconnect if using a non-shorting switch.

Just to clarify, I'll be using a single B-III (in 6-ch mode) feeding the three IVY's, one volume pot. Already ordered.

Sorry for the delay. Busy busy busy :)

You would want to use a SPDT switch as you outlined. the transition should be fast enough to not give you a full volume blast. There is some ramping in the volume code that would prevent it.
