Hi,
As I was listening to music, one of my Placid BP power rails went out. There was a slight burning smell, although nothing blew up or looks fried. So I have my +17v but -17v is now at -2.4v. Now, as I power it up, only one side of heat sinks is warm.
Where should I start to troubleshoot?
thanks for any help.
Herman

It is version 2.1
I think something actually burned out because this happened shortly after I switched over to a bigger transformer (same output voltage).
I was listening to music, the Placid was getting pretty warm, not super hot. Then one rail went out. Maybe I was shunting too much current...
Which parts burn out in this case, how to I check them?
thanks, Herman

Parts I would suspect first:
QP2/QN4
QP1/QN3
If you replace things make sure to change R8(A and B) to 200-221R

Thank you. Will do that and let you know if it solves the problem. Herman
