You should be able to just connect the master clock - bit clock- word clock and data. It should just work. :)

Hi Russ,

Thanks for your feedback, do you know the right pins numbers in Amanero to match master clock - bit clock - word clock and data ?

Thanks,

Alexandre.

This should help. :)

OUT_MCLK (MASTER CLOCK) 6
OUT_I2S_DATA (DATA) 3
OUT_CLK (BIT CLOCK/SERIAL CLOCK) 4
OUT_FSCL (WORD CLOCK/LR CLOCK) 5

Hi Russ,

Do you know which pins should match between amanero and opus dac ?

Regards,

Alexandre.

I've got a pair of Opus DAC's and have tested with the TPA USB receiver module - everything works fine. I can't seem to get my Amanero to work. I've tested continuity between the Xilinx chip and the output header for all 4 of the pins needed - no issues.

I'm running a MAC mini and streaming Tidal - no setting in the MAC to see what sampling rate it's even sending. Could that be the issue? Yes, I have a PC as well. I'll try loading the driver to see if I can adjust the sampling frequency.

Any other thoughts? Thanks.

Hope it's ok to hijack this thread as opposed to starting a new Opus to Amanero thread.

I made some progress early this morning... hooked up the Amanero to my PC instead of my MAC and got sound through the Opus DAC in stereo mode. But, I can only get it to work with sample rates of 44.1 kHz and 48.0 kHz.

The Amanero has a Master Clock of 24.576 Mhz or 22.5792 Mhz and automatically adjusts the system FS. According to the Wolfson 8741 datasheet, that means all audio modes from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz should be supported.

I'm going to install Amarra sQ on my MAC to see if I gain some control over the actual sample rates being sent to the Amanero.

With Amarra sQ+ installed, I can get my MAC to stream from Tidal into the Amanero / Dual Opus setup and play music - again, sample rates of 44.1 kHz and 48.0 kHz only. At 192 kHz, it looks like it is playing in sQ+, but the output from the Opus DAC is quiet.

Edit - Got it working on the MAC at 96 kHz sampling. Sounds pretty damn nice... pure class A with balanced inputs through my 6' Magneplanars and a JL Audio 12w6v3 sealed sub with 24 db/octave LR active filter.

Would be nice to get the 192 kHz mode working - maybe it's my source?

Hi Steve,

No worries about the hijack this thread , thanks for your reply, I will pay attention to the sample rate, aldo i will try to use Exd instead Amanero, let´s see.

Switch the OSR switch to + for 192kHz.

As Brian says - you have to change the OSR based on the sample rate, You can do this a number of ways.

Manually is the simplest - but you could also do it automatically by enabling the flags output on the amanero firmware and use the correct signal to change the setting for you. (you may need a controller to really do it right)

Sounds simple enough. I was going to use an Arduino in any case. I should be able to run the Arduino off the digital power supply, right?

I'm hoping to download some DSD64 tracks for testing later this week.

Thank you!
