Hello all, just purchased the COD dual mono spdif combo.
My setup is a little strange.
I have two normal cans ( AKG 701, and Sennheiser HD650 w. Cardas cable ), and a Stax setup. For the dynamic cans and my speaker amp setup ( SE triode ), I obviously need a SE output. For my Stax setup, I would prefer a balanced input if possible ( though not absolutely necessary ).
Here's the question.
More than likely, I will eventually diy a balanced tube output stage for the COD. But in the meantime, I would like to implement the following. I have in house a Ventus w/ a Placid BP that I would like to start with and see how it sounds. I've read here that the Ventus performs well as an I/V stage.
Is there any way to pick off a balanced signal off of the Ventus board to feed the balanced input on my Stax SR007tll amp, and leave the SE output intact to drive the headphones and my SE tube amp ?
I'm comfortable, if necessary, cutting circuit board traces to install a switch.
As always, thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers, Crazy Bill

I would start by installing the caps/resistors on the CODs, and feeding the balanced outputs to the Stax and to the Ventus in parallel.
There isn't a good way to tap balanced signals from the Ventus.

Ventus is really a single ended circuit - you would be better off using something like the IVY-III or your tube stage.
Cheers! Russ
