Hi,.
I would be interested to use the Placid HD to drive +/-15V 800mA draw with 20% shunt ~1A.
I plan to mount the regulators on the bottom of an all aluminium enclosure and will be well ventilated on top as well. There will be 2 HD Bi's and 2 HDs in one enclosure driven by either of the following.
Avel Y236503 160VA 22V+22V Toroidal Transformer (Made in China from PE).
Avel Y236651 250VA 18V+18V Toroidal Transformer (Made in China from PE).
18 or 22V? Smaller VA rating for less flux? Any other readily available recommended transformer?
I got some R-cores from Ebay (China) that I'm giving away as paper weight, if anyone interested.
Any pit falls? Recommendations? A quick list of parts needing change? Perhaps a BOM for an all out Placid HD.

I would go with a 15V+15V transformer to minimize addition heat from the voltage drop.
