Hello, i'm building a Buffalo IIIse DAC using a Broskie Unbalancer as i/v stage, that will act as a preamp too using medium/high mu tubes. I would like to insert a remote volume control board + ALPS RK27 motorized pot to control the reproduction volume before my preamp, that hasn't any volume control. But i'm trying to guess where should i connect this volume control to retain max audio quality: where would it cause minimum quality loss? Should i connect it to BIIIse volume control socket, acting as digital volume control, or after Unbalancer output, acting as analogue volume control? Using it to set DAC registers would interfere with Bitperfect reproduction (digital volume control)? Using it to attenuate Unbalancer output would interfere with output impedence and signal quality (analogue volume control)? What is the less "harmful" solution? Thanks to anyone would like to give me a suggestion!

I would, without question, control to volume digitally.
