Must the wires from the usb-i2s device(exa) I am planning to use in my dual mono build be connected in paralell to both dac boards ?
Exa - BIIIse
Gnd- Gnd Dvcc- Dvcc Dck- Dck LR- D1 D1.2- D2
I guess it is not possible to connect the wires only to the master-board ?

Yes. Correct. If you only connect the master, the slave board will not do anything.

Thx Leon
One more question: when hooking up wires from the s/pdif 75ohm chassieconnector to the two BIIIse boards, is paralell the right to do here also, or can I daysy chain from the master to the slave board ? I know this is not recommend for i2s wiring, but not shure when it comes to s/pdif. The logical seems to be paralell so the wires have equal length ( as for i2s ).
Thx

It doesn't matter: both boards are terminated. On the BII you had the option to bypass termination so daisychaining the boards and terminating the last in the chain was the preferred way there. This is not the case with the BIII.

Sry for my stupidity, but when you say "it doesn't matter", are you saying that it's ok to connect s/pdif only to one board?. Becouse they are connected to each other via i2c ? I am waiting for another BIIIse theese days, and just want to be sure everything is sorted out before heating up my weller. I have read your exellent user manual, but there is still some questions to be asked for an unexperienced diy'er like me.

i2 c is a control interface (protocol). It doesn't carry any signal like i2 sYou need to cable both boards. Edited by user Sunday, May 18, 2014 3:27:24 PM(UTC)

Thx avr. Final question, paralell wiring from s/pdif chassies connector to the two dac boards or wiring just to one board first and then another wire to the next board? ( maybe the answer to this was what Leon ment when he answered "it doesn't matter ? ) Edited by user Sunday, May 18, 2014 4:09:06 PM(UTC)

Pick your choice. Both are a compromise (but it the only way to do it :-)

Thx avr.
S-pdif is only in use when whatching a movie from time to time, so it's not so important. I2s is the choice for music.

Just finished BIIIse dual mono, BUT only sound in right channel ( the one with the firmware chip) when playing i2s. The strange is that when switching to s/pdif both channel sings just fine. I have a switch for s/pdif on the board with the firmware-chip, and no jumper or wires to the next board's " IP S". Will a jumper here fix the problem, or should I connect another Wire in paralell from the s/pdif switch to "IP S" on the second board without the firmware-chip ? Or maybe I can bypass s/pdif " autodetect" in the DIP switch settings ? Forgot to say that when the s/pdif is switced off, there is still sound, but only in the left channel ( the one without the firmwarechip ) When playing i2s the mute led is on and only sound in the right channel. Probably a simple solution to this problem, but I am afraid of doing something wrong just before the finish line. Edited by user Wednesday, May 21, 2014 7:22:07 PM(UTC)

You need to switch IP_S on both boards. It is not tied to the firmware or I2C bus in any way.
