The subject line says it all - has anyone done this? I am confused about what signal goes where as I have have three references that all use different names for them! A simple listing - Raspberry Pi connector P5 Pin x/y/z goes to B32S I2S connector D1/D2/DCK would be good  . Mike

That's where I started getting confused!
Russ posted a drawing for a J1 and made reference to more recent versions of the Buffalo DAC and I realised I had reached the limits of my knowledge. Reading the rest of the thread was not a lot more informative but did make me want to try it anyway. I even posted a question there but it got 'lost' amongst the other issues discussed.
So, does J1 = P5? Does D1 = Data_Out? Does DCK = Word_Clock(LRCK)? Does D2 = Bit_Clock?

chevron, I am wanting to do the same with a Rasberry Pi and buffalo II DAC. After an hour or so of searching, I found this info: Buffalo Gnd to Gnd (obviously) Buffalo DCK to Bit Clock Buffalo D1 to Word Clock/LRCK Buffalo D2 to Data out I have not tested this, I am just getting ready to order a R pi and want to use volumio. Been running my BII/Ivy III with a hiface USB via SPDIF for years on a windows PC. Want to get away from windows, and try the more direct connection (I2S). You might want to get a Beaglebone Black and wait for the TP Botic.

The connections listed above are correct. I have the system playing, and it's much better than the USB to HiFace1 to SPDIF to DAC (Buffalo II). I'm sure there's more potential with better mini PCs and such, but this sounds great, and at the price of a Rasberry? Hell, I have single RCA jacks that cost more than the Pi! Hahahaa!

Thanks Mike, I did manage to get it working fine in the end and was very impressed with the result as I thought it sounded better than the USB interface I was using.
I have also tried a couple of other DACs that are made especially for the Rpi (Hifiberry and Wolfson), also with very impressive audio results. The Rpi is a bit underpowered though (takes 3 hours to scan my music files) so I am looking forward to seeing what the Botic turns out like as the BBB is supposed to have a bit more horsepower.
