I started assembling my DAC build and have decided to upgrade to the BIIISE in the process.

I had originally purchased two placid power power supplies. I intend to use one for the B3.

If setup properly for 5.25 Vdc at 440mA with 50mA shunted that's 490mA. The manual says you're ok up till 500mA. Do you think I'm ok.

I understand it's more about cooling at that point so I was thinking of putting a taller heatsink on the regulator for insurance.

What do you think?

Thanks... I should be fine then. It'll be in the basement in an all aluminum vented case so I think I should be ok

You can mount the power transistors from bottom up through the PCB by bending their legs 90 degrees upwards . Then bolt them to the bottom of the alu case.

I must go as high as 575mA to be abel to reach 60mA shunt. When mounting the transistors the way avr300 describe you will have no prob with the heat. I have done it and it's working like a dream.

I am pretty shure it also will work with the larger heatsinks that's now included.

When doing it this way I will recommand that the soldering is the last step you do. First find the right angle for the transistor legs through the holes and be shure that the whole transistor surface have god contact to the Bottom plate of the chassis. Make shure the spacers between the pcb and chassis is not to long or to short. Fasten the pcb and the screw through the transistor and then solder it.

( Don't forget the cooling paste.)
