Hi,
I have questions for Buffalo III SE because I am very interesting for this DAC:
- What is the advantage to use the Buffalo in dual mono mode (two DACs)? Can I hear the difference?
- Which I/V Stage is better (sounds better) for the Buffalo: IVY or Legato? I think it is subjective?
- I want use 4 digital inputs. Is there any 4:1 MUX without S/PDIF receiver? What does I need for 4 input sources?
Best regards, Michael

1) About 3-4 db better DNR - but at the cost of a more difficult build. I would recommend starting stereo. 2) Very subjective. IVY-III is the most user friendly. 3) There is a new module for that - it will be available very soon - we just took delivery of the PCBs.

Thank you Russ for the great support! That sounds very good with the new module. :)
One more question: - For what is the optional buffer on legato? Is this only for driving headphones?

It's for driving what ever you chose to connect to the DAC.

It's for driving what ever you chose to connect to the DAC. And for which case is the version without the buffer? Is this buffer for lower output impedance and higher voltage?

The circuit will perform better and be much more versatile with the buffers. We only offer the no-buffer option as a way to save money.

But with the buffer is the legato not discrete. :)
Thank you for your answer, I prefer the IVY and wait for the new mux.
