Waiting for my waveIO to come in, and really enjoying the BIIIse even with toslink input. (After about a week, things began to sound better than I've gotten from a digital source!) Have gotten 3 10cm ufl cables while waiting; this length would give me easiest internal layout. BUT, I could do a bit of board rotation and height changes etc. and get the lines down to 7cm. Assuming that I get signal locks, etc. with the 10cm cables, is there a performance advantage gained by using 7cm cables? In other words, if it works at 10cm, will it work "better" at 7cm? Is it a matter of noise pick up, or signal bounce, or? I know all of the ufl connections should be the same length.

As an additional question, if I want to try the clock on the wave, I know that I need to take the trident off of the BIII board; does the cable to the clock need to match the other 3 cable lengths?

As long as the cables are the same length and impedance I very much doubt you will notice a 3cm difference.

No, the MCLCK cables does not have to be the same length as the others.

I am pretty confident in saying that matching the cable length in general (within reason) doesn't matter all that much either. The difference of a few cm will not affect the clocking.

If you are using an external master clock, you would want to cable length to be approximately the same, but again, a cm or two will not matter at all.

The signal speed through the cable is approx 8in/ns (roughly 20cm/ns). A 100MHz signal has a period of 10ns.
