One of the LEDs (D1) on the AVCC Dual Shunt Regulator Module is much dimmer than the other (Buffalo II). Is this something to worry about? The DAC seems to work fine. Edited by user Sunday, September 29, 2013 8:03:30 PM(UTC)

Probably not.
You could try measuring input voltage along with output voltages. Be careful not to let the probe slip creating a short.

The VD is 5.28V (Cold) and 5.22 V (Warm) The shunt current is 60mA in the Placid HD. I have experienced some locking problems/noise with the Buffalo II at 384 kHz 32bit. I do not experience this with the BIII. (I use a 100MHz clock on BII.) The I2S cables are only about 1 inch long. I do not know if this is related to the dim led. You could increase the VD a bit - but if its working fine, then there is no issue.

Sure, but not from TPA.
Look for OPA2209 or OPA2211
