I'm going to build my sister a couple of 2w active speakers, the design of the speakers is settle but I am still pondering the DSP/DAC/AMP setup. I will be using two Icepower 50ASX2 amp modules to power the speakers. I am thinking of using the MiniDSP nanoDIGI 2x8 K to do the DSP work as it can handle higher sample rates, but I will need dac's after the nanoDigi, that's where the OPUS comes in. 1. The amps are not balanced but can I still feed the amps directly from the OPUS outputs? 2. Is all I would need to achieve this, 2 x DAC Modules, 1 x Low-Current Dual Power Supply Kit & 1 x transformer? Actually I forgot, I'm going to try the "Opamp buffer for ICEpower ASX-modules" from, http://theslowdiyer.word...diy-projects/amplifiers/ between the DAC's & amps. . 1 - yes you can, if you use the output caps, but this is not optimal. It would be better to use an output stage such as IVY-III or Ventus EZ. 2 - if you don't use an output stage - yes.
Any output stage you chose should accept balanced inputs for best results.
Cheers! Russ
