Hello
This is very strange, I have done nothing and know there is sound, but only in left channel, right channel is only noise! There is absolutely no sound with the firmware chip install.. Come on now what is going on here..
The A.mute led lighten up when I stop or pause the player, that seems fine. The A.mute led did'nt light at all if I install the firmware chip.
The lock led can once in a while flash and the music stops but only in 1/4 of a second.
I have checked and rechecked all the solderings and I have measured all the tridents and the avcc shunt, nothing wrong..
Ok, that was some news but still I need your help!

Henrik I forgot to say - The volume pot doesn't respond at all..

Ok now I install the firmware chip, of cause with the power off, and now the volume pot is working. But the A.mute led doesn't light with the chip installt ..
Still no music in right channel but heavy raw noise and this noise is controlled by the volume..

Also while your testing don't use any output stage, just output caps.

Many times I have thought my DAC board was faulty and it never actually was. A tip Brian gave me is to get an old pair of headphones, cut off the plug and apply the wires directly to the output of the DAC board. That allows one to eliminate any other source of malfunction.
Don't give up. It can be frustrating, but that's the price we pay for DIY.
When you get it working, you'll forget about the trauma.

Morning good folks.:-)
Here is an update on this strange case.
Yesterday evening I tried everything I've allready had tried before.. After a while with plug the firmware chip in and out (with no power) there was sound in one of the channels ( I still don't know wich there is left and right)
The other channel was only heavy and raw noise .. Hmm what to do.. Even though I resolder all the joints earlier there where still no sound in the other channel.
Then I took another red Wima 1 uF cap and connected and bingo, sound in both channels, my god, some of the problems was due to a new but defect cap ..
So dear Brian and Russ and every one else in here - My dac is working. :-)
But what I don't know is the story about the firmware chip. Why tease it so much? It needs a re programming?
If you know something, please share it with me..
By the way, is there anyone who can tell me which side there is left and right output on the pcb.?

The firmware chip is fine, it was just a step in debugging.

Is it not marked on the silkscreen? Glad to hear you solved the problem.

If you are looking at the buffalo on the silkscreen and it is right side up, the right output is on the right (the same direction the buffalo is facing).

Good evening, Ok - Maybe I haven't been keeping up on something.. What is "the silkscreen" and the right side up..? That side with the two lock and mute led's - Which side is that? Best from Henrik
