I just spent the last 2 days assembling a Ivy3/Buffalo III-SE and Placid HD-BP.
It's a real pleasure to assemble a well designed product. After years of prototyping (out of kit) I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to populate the boards. I also know why I failed the JPL soldering test. Awesome kit fabrication, symbol, and part correlation. The AC power connectors on the Placid were a tight fit requiring force.
I spent some time with the schematics first. Did I mention the design work is exceptional? This product is what I call engineering art. It's beyond functional if that makes sense. Exceptional quality and attention to detail. Hallelujah. The III-SE (with regulators) / Ivy3 stack is something. Purty. The palace of pristine audio. I can't wait until it glows and produces a little thunder. I am thoroughly enjoying the process.
