What on the bottom of the relay driver board? And do I need it?

relay driver board

Do you need isolation between the heatsink and 5v reg? I'm paranoid, because I saw one pictured with it.

Thanks,
Joe

The chip under the board is the I2C port expander... yes, you need it.

You don't need isolation, just be sure to use thermal compound if you don't use a thermal pad.

Thanks,
