Can I connect the Sympatico amp directly to the Opus or should I use a IVY III for best result?

Yes, you can feed it directly, and can even leave out the output capacitors on the Opus.

Would you recommend to leave out the output capacitors if Opus is connected directly to the Ventus EZ too? (I am planning to use the Opus for both the Sympatico power amp and the Ventus EZ headphone amp and then make a switch/relay to change the output sources.) It should also work fine into Ventus EZ as well. But because you are switching (to minimize any transient) I would probably leave the caps in place. You can always short them later if you wish to experiment.

Thank you very much for the support! I had planned to make a circuit when switching from the power amp (Sympatico) to headphone amp (Ventus EZ) to first switch off the amplifiers, then with some delay make the output line switch, then turn on the Ventus. Do you think this is necessary to protect the speakers and headphones or could I just keep both amplifiers on and make a simple passive switch on the outputs of the Opus? Well what you should do is try it, and observe the behavior when switching as you plan - then decide. You could do this by testing with cheep headphones and old throw away drivers. :)
