Hello - I assembled a Placid HD & Placid HD BP awhile back and now have gotten around to powering them up. The Placid HD powered up and adjusted fine. I then powered up the Placid HD BP, the Leds lit however there was a transformer hum. I put my finger on the 15v transformer and it was very hot to the touch. I checked the color of the wire and they are configured black to one rail, yellow to the other with orange & red to common. Removing the transformer from the power supply silences the hum.

I'm suspecting a reverse polarity somewhere but haven't found it yet. Does anyone have any idea where the problem might be?

Can you describe what you mean by "common"? There are four power input terminals on the Placid BP, and the transformer should be connected with the wires in order: black red orange yellow.

Thanks Brian - On a terminal strip between the transformer and the power supply, I had the orange and red wires combined.
