Hi, New here but not to building kits. I have a Krell KPA (phono preamp) that needs +/- 21 volts to operate. It uses a jumper from the preamp to supply the 21 volts. I want to run this as a stand alone, but require a separate power supply. Is it reasonable to use the placid power supply to accomplish this? I know that it was designed for 15 volts max but wondered if upgrading some components would allow this to be used? John

Hi John. I can't answer your question about the power supply but am curious to see how your stand alone project comes out. I recently picked up a Krell KSL pre amp with KSL MM/MC phono board. I had to re-cap both and rebias the phono board but it is very impressive sounding. If I were able to pick up a second KSL board I could go external and run them in dual mono. It think it should work just fine. How much current do you need?
You would just need to be sure the caps are rated at say 50V - but it will also come down to how much current you need.
