Hi guys,
I am using the Buffalo (Buffalo DAC + IVY Stage + S/PDIF MUX+ Volumite) and I really like the sound of it. But I am also having some problems (with different sources, CD and DVD).
Once in about 5- 10 minutes the DAC produces soundbites of 0.5 seconds of the music that are much louder than the normal playing level. Just in the middle of a track. It's very frightening for my dog. :-)
The connection between the mux and the buffalo is I2S. I must add that I did not use the new comperator yet that Brian sent me. is the use of the LMV7219 mandatory for good I2S connection?

Hi Chris,
I had the same problem only with Metrome , Buffalo , Ivy the solution was that I changed the setting off the Metronome to 512fs(48khz) then the cracking noise was gone maybe this can be helpfull.The other settings in the Metronome are default as stated in the manual.
In the Buffalo I put
switch1 input select PCM/DSD low,
switch 2 filter mode high,
switch 3 notch delay low
switch 4 DPLL BW lowest

Christian, it sounds like for some reason either the Volumite or the Buffalo or both are periodically resetting. I can't be certain why without a closer look.

@ Muizel: thanks, I'll try that. @Ross: I thought about that too, but I used the same setup without the spdif-mux for about two weeks without any problems. This started after I added the spdif-mux last week... Could it be the option Muizel stated or maybe the fact that the MUX, BUFFALO, TOSLINK and VOLUMITE share the same PSU. How do you have the power coming to the volumite?

The Volumite is powered by the LCDPS together with the Buffalo (VD), Toslink Reciever and the MUX. But the heatsink of the LCDPS is not very warm at all. why you have connected Buffalo with I2S and also SPDIF? try to remove the SPDIF cable and the second ground cable.
