I have not tried the cap mod yet.
I confirmed my symptoms with input 1 and I even tried a 2nd 4way board. Same problem. When cold it will play solid for a few mins then I loose lock. Input 2-4 no problem. On either board. I also tried two different sources.
Just curious why this only happens on input one

well i added 47uf to c13. it took 20 minutes to loos lock on input 1 all other inputs work fine. when i switch back to input one i lose lock within a minute very strange

I have this problem with the Toslink input. Is there any solution ? I have added the 270 / 75 ohm. The power supply for the Toslink is near 12 V.

Board looks ok. Make sure the wiring is short, also in some cases you will need to connect -IN to GND.

A couple notes:
It is better not to twist the ribbon over itself.
You might be better off using slightly taller stand offs and mounting the SPDIF board upside down.
You could also mount the TBs on the bottom side of the board.

I implemented things this way to get it to fit in a custom box.
Do any of your criticisms have anything to do with the problem of input one not working properly?

I know Russ you are probably annoyed by this but I in folded the ribbon and gave the SPDIF4 lots of room but results are the same. I got 26 mins before I lost lock on input one. I running the SPDIF-4 at 4.75vdc using 1/2 of the LCDPS. The other half is at 5.5vdc for the Buffalo. All heat sinks are just warm to the touch.
None of what you are suggesting answers why this is happening only on input one of the SPDIF-4 while the other inputs are fine0

It may be something downstream. Either in the wiring or the DAC itself. Possibly a damaged input?
There is nothing special about 1 as far as the comparator circuit goes.

Now I am even more confused. Why would the DAC care which input is being used. This all started when I upgraded the AVCC module. I will put the old one back in to or row morning

Each channel of the comparator goes to an input pin of the DAC.

I believe my problem started when I upgraded to the new AVCC V2. So this morning I re adjusted VD back down to 5.25vdc and put in the old AVCC, but the problem is still there, so I have given up and just will not use input one. I really only need 2 inputs anyway. I wish I understood more about this and it will remain a mystery, but I have to move on to the next project
