I asked on diyaudio about the indicator LED's not working and was able to figure that out. Now that they do work they are very dim. Almost to the point of not even looking like they are on. I removed the 470r resistor and installed a jumper wire to see if it would help but it did not. The voltage coming into the selector on pins 1 and 4 is 3.3v. When any LED is attached it drops to 1.7v on pin 1. If I connect the led wire to the 3.3v side I get the brightness I want. Is there supposed to be that much of a voltage drop across the selector switch with the LED attached? Also, when the LED is attached the Lock is intermittent at best. When I try to read across the LED to get the voltage the lock goes away and does not come back unless I switch to another input and back. Sometimes the lock does not even come when the unit is turned on. I have the Placid for the BIII board set at 4.8v and 500ma to account for the attached power indicator LED.

Can anyone help me here. I'm trying to finish this up since it is for someone else. It was working perfectly before I tried to plug in the indicator leds.

It sounds like you have a bad connection or solder joint.

I will look it all over again tonight and if I don't see anything I will take some pictures and post them here.

It is fixed now. Turned out that I had the ribbon cable connector on backward at the switch. Needless to say I felt pretty dumb when I figured it out. I had looked at it so long that the wrong way looked right to me. Anyway, thanks for the help and I will post some pictures of the finished product soon.

One other thing. Is there a way to go from S/PDIF to AES for testing purposes? I know that I have seen and AES to S/PDIF cable but not the other way around. I assume it has to do with the voltage involved at the outputs.

S/PDIF is 0.5Vp-p. AES/EBU is 5Vp-p, differential. You would need an active circuit to go from S/PDIF to AES/EBU.
