I have made models for use in planning builds for some time now. I would urge others to share their models and post a link to them here. Pictures of the models here would also be great. That is a nice simple yet elegant design. I like how you stuck the printed lcd screen in there. I was hoping to import the fpd or svg file from my front panel into Sketchup but it doesn't accept those files. Edited by user Thursday, November 15, 2012 2:00:08 AM(UTC)

I think this will be a good start off point. I have had good feedback from several people and the design is evolving nicely.
If you have a file in a different format, by all means post it. I may be able to convert it to the Sketchup platform.
IMO what sketchup is all about is sharing ideas, so by all means download, edit and play with it. Then share and have fun with it.

Here is my front panel design. Front Panel Express exports in svg, which is nice because you can view an svg file with Internet Explorer to see how the machined font/logo will look. I don't have a file converter, don't trust the free online ones and photoshop won't import an svg file either to resize. I resized it to fit my screen width using IE and did a screen print of it. It still chops some of the right side off.... I wanted to pay some tribute to TP with my front panel design on my dual mono BIII build. Big and bold, like the sound quality. I tried larger and smaller font/logo and this seemed to look best, to me anyway. The enclosure is a modushop Pesante, front panel 450mm (17.71") x 120mm (4.72") x 10mm (.39"). This design is currently in the works at modushop. I also had him machine a cavity in the rear panel to move the LCD screen closer to the face of panel. A 45 degree chamfer will be on the outside of lcd opening. A 29mm flanged encoder knob will be sunk into front panel by 5mm. It will be anodized black after machining. The small hole is for the IR receiver. it will be chamfered with a small cavity in back to position the IR closer to front side of panel. Modushop only offers black ink fill, so I will do this ModWright style and use some paint to fill the lettering/logo, cleaning excess with mineral spirits. Thanks. I try to contribute to the community with what I can. Hopefully more models will follow.
I often use the manufactorer`s 3d files as a starting point. This leads to very accurate models that can actually be of use when it comes to casework. Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to make your logo`s in 3d so that I can make your logo`s in Sketchup (for engraving, backlit plexi logo`s etc) as well.

Very nice models Gwikse!  The new version of the spdif board however has some different capacitors. The WIMA caps are replaced by some tantalum caps, at least that's what I think they are. It makes no difference when using the model to see how it all fits inside the build of course. |

Thanks. I have the old 4ch board with wima, but I`ll add a model later with the newer caps. Exact part number would be helpful to make the model as accurate as possible.
I am currently finishing up the B3 and your new piggyback shield. The front panel is on the backfoot atm as I need to whink it through a little. Nice new codework btw :)
