How sidecar switch between PCM and DSD - Russ White

According to BIII integration guide, it mentions that "If not using Sidecar", stereo PCM or DSD requires different jumpers to be joined on BIII. Sidecar is designed for switching between SPDIF and PCM. Both PCM and DSD use the same input and it doesn't has any function to short different inputs of BIII for PCM and DSD. How can SideCar be used to switch between PCM and DSD?

Thats almost exactly the same question I was going to ask.

I've got a buffalo-ii (all working great with just a direct PCM input), and a friend a buffalo-iii (yet to wire it up or try get it working). I was thinking of using an otto to switch between PCM and DSD inputs on the buffalo-ii. But the buffalo-iii seems more complex due to the need to have jumpers placed in a different arrangement between stereo PCM and stereo DSD. Using the same Otto-II solution wouldve been sweet. Or are we missing something?

Please see page 6 of the guide to understand what the jumpers actually do. Then wire the OTTO according to your needs. Also: multichannel does not require jumpers.

My question is this. The exd instructions show that only D1 and D2 is needed for DSD in stereo. Is this the case? and if so, can I do DSD (in stereo) on the buffalo-iii, without connecting JDSD1 and JDSD2?

Our question is the BIII requires different jumpers for PCM and DSD. If TPA don't have a product for this, as a supplier for the BIII, they should clearly answer the question and advise us a possible solution.

All you have to do is look at which signals the jumpers connect together. :)

We are asking about the best method for jumper switching and have no difficulty to read the integration guide regarding jumper setting. So, TPA doesn't have any product for switching between PCM and DSD. May be we need to use relay for the jumper switching but this may affect the sound quality.

Stereo DSD and Stereo PCM?

There is no need to switch anything. :)

Even without sidecar You just need to:

connect D1 to D5
then D2 to D4 and D6
then D3, D7 and D8 to GND.

Now nice thing... the Sidecar module does this for you when PCM/DSD input is selected.

Now you just set the remap switch. The DAC will automatically switch from PCM to DSD depending on which signal is present.

Thanks Russ for the clarification. So I have to use Sidecar for switching between SPDIF and PCM/DSD and add OTTO 2 for PCM and DSD switching.
